There still has been no decision made on whether one of the two teenagers charged with murdering 16-year-old Hannah Leflar should be granted bail.
The boy appeared via closed circuit television in a Regina courtroom Thursday morning. Since he was under 18 when he was charged, he can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
In a relatively brief appearance, Judge Leslie Halliday ordered a bail report. That’ll take a closer look into electronic monitoring and a place of residence for the boy if he is indeed released. Both boys, also 16 at the time of Hannah’s death, were charged with first-degree murder after her body was found in January. Their lawyers have asked they be tried separately.
One of the teens first asked for bail in May and it’s been an ongoing process since.
He’ll be back in court Aug. 25 to appear in person.
