The mother of a 14-year-old Regina teenager wants answers following his death.
Just a couple weeks before his birthday in May, Haven Dubois was found unresponsive in a creek by Victoria Avenue East and later died in hospital. His mother Richelle thinks there is more information out there regarding what led to his death.
“The stories aren’t matching up from what I’m hearing which makes me suspicious that there is something out there that the kids know,” said Richelle. “Somebody knows more than what they’re saying.”
Richelle is pleading for someone to come forward to explain exactly what happened.
“I would like these kids that are supposed to be his friends to come forward and tell us what happened the days before, the days after, the suspicious activity around my house following his death that day.”
Richelle said Haven was a good swimmer and finds it hard to believe he could drown in just a couple inches of water. They used to live in Calgary with a swimming pool and Haven swam every day for two years.
One of the stories going around about Haven’s death is connected to drugs. Richelle is not sure if it’s true.
“If he was being pressured, he wasn’t into that kind of thing. He was a really good kid. I do believe he was being pressured and being bullied to do things he wouldn’t normally do.”
Richelle describes her son as a good kid.
“He was a good brother, a good uncle to his little nephews and cousins. He was just a good kid all the way around.”
Regina police do not consider Haven’s death suspicious at this time. The office of the coroner has said previously that it will take a number of months to finish its investigation into the death.
“Somebody please come forward and tell us what happened,” said Richelle. “Tell us what you know.”
