An alleged thief in Regina didn’t steer clear of crime after being caught riding a stolen bike while trying to carry a large, stolen TV.
Police were dispatched to the 3100 block of Avonhurst Drive on June 1 after someone reported that a man had just stolen a bicycle and was trying to ride it while carrying a TV. Officers found a 22-year-old man in the area in possession of a stolen bike, TV and other items.
Andrew James Debruycker, 22, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was released on an undertaking.
The Regina Police Service says Debruycker was arrested again on Monday after officers were called 8300 block of Struthers Crescent. Someone had reported a man to be unconscious in the driver’s seat of a car. Police discovered that the car had been reported the day before.
Debruycker was found nearby and arrested. The police service has laid several new charges against him including failing to comply with the conditions of his undertaking.
Debruycker made his first court appearance Tuesday morning.
