News Talk Radio in Saskatchewan is being honoured by our prairie peers.

The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) handed out its awards for the prairie region on the weekend in Winnipeg.

News Talk Radio won the radio award for best Breaking News Coverage and for Best Radio Newscast for a medium market.

CJME was chosen for the Best Radio Newscast for our 5 p.m. broadcast the day of the fire at the Co-op refinery in October.

It’s the fourth year in a row the RTDNA judges have awarded us best newscast.

The Breaking News Coverage award was handed to CKOM for its coverage of the plane crash in Saskatoon at 51st Street and Wanuskewin Road on April 1, 2011.

Alex Docking, CJME’s assistant news director and anchor, was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his 40-plus years of journalistic excellence. Below is a video that was played at a dinner honouring those award winners.
