The Edmonton Eskimos have signed undrafted free agent Marc Mueller to a contract.

The University of Regina Rams quarterback is the grandson of Saskatchewan Roughriders legend and former Eskimos Head Coach Ron Lancaster. In 2010, Mueller threw for 2,437 yards (182-278 attempts), 14 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions.

In a release from the Eskimos, General Manager Eric Tillman said, “Marc has great leadership skills and has a very advanced understanding of the nuances of our Canadian game which is understandable given his work ethic and the many years he spent with his grandfather. Marc threw the ball very well at the CFL combine and his success at the university level is well documented.”

Though Mueller will try out for the Eskimos, he is expected to finish his final year of eligibility with the Rams in 2011.
