There was no slow start for the Saskatoon Hilltops this time.
The visitors jumped out to an early 14-1 lead on their way to a 42-17 win over the Regina Thunder in Prairie Football Conference play on Saturday night at Mosaic Stadium.
Graham Unruh scored two first half touchdowns, including the game's first major on a 15 yard pass from starter Matt Karpinka. Tom Shockey followed that up with one yard plunge to give the visitors an early 14-1 lead. After an eight yard touchdown catch from Evan Turkington, Unruh's second score and a 38 yard field goal from Zach Schmidt the score was 31-3 for the Hilltops at half time.
Andre Lalonde had a strong game for the Hilltops, rushing for 116 yards and a second half touchdown. Regina didn't score a touchdown until the fourth quarter as Kyle Siemens threw two fourth quarter touchdown passes after replacing Thunder starter Asher Hastings. Saskatoon's defense stood tall holding Hastings to just 89 yards in passing.
With the win the Hilltops move to 5 and 1 on the season. The Hilltops visit the Edmonton Huskies this Sunday at Clarke Park.
