JUNO nominees include The Sheepdogs, Justin Bieber

Get your cameras ready for celebrity spotting in the Queen City, the Junos are two months away and the list of nominees came out on Tuesday.

On the list of artists and bands we definitely know are coming are Billy Talent, Marianas Trench and pop star Carley Rae Jepson who are all set to perform at the Brandt Centre.

Here are the nominees for single of the year.


Nominations for Single of the Year will see Billy Talent’s ‘Viking Death March’ up against Serena Ryder’s ‘Stompa,’ Hedley’s ‘Kiss You Inside Out’ and Carley Rae Jepson’s ‘Call Me Maybe’.

Also making the list from closer to home is the Sheepdog’s single ‘The Way it Is.’ The Saskatoon band also picked up nominations for Rock Album of the Year and Group of the year.

In that category the group is up against Big Wreck for ‘Albatross,’ Billy Talent for ‘Dead Silence,’ Rush for ‘Clockwork Angels’ and The Tragically Hip for ‘Now for Plan A.’

Jepson, Hedley and Marianas Trench are up for Album of the Year alongside Justin Bieber’s ‘Believe’ and Céline Dion’s Sans Attendre.

Nominees for Country Album of the Year include Emerson Drive for ‘Roll’, Chad Brownlee for ‘Love Me or Leave Me,’ Dean Brody for ‘Dirt,’ Dallas Smith for ‘Jumped Right In,’ and Johnny Reid for ‘Fire it Up.’

The Junos will be held April 21 at the Brandt Centre and are to be hosted by 11-time Juno winner Michael Bublé who will also debut a new single on stage.

It was already announced that eight-time winner k.d. lang will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Tickets go on sale Friday morning priced between $59 and $189.
