Once again, the Saskatoon Hilltops are on top.
Logan Fischer scored three touchdowns to lead the way in a 43-31 win over Calgary to win the Prairie Football Conference championship.
“Usually we have a lot of nerves in these games, but not when a team goes off in the news about us,”Fischer said, in regards to a CTV Calgary interview the Colts did which they said, “We’re going to run the ball down the Tops throats.”
“We reacted the best way we know how, which is to play football and win.”
Fischer ran in a pair of scores and caught another to finish with 187 all-purpose yards (137yds rushing, 38yds receiving, 12yds punt return).
“These are the big ones and it’s always easy to get pumped up for them,” he said. “We started off slow, but we’ve stepped up after week three so this one (championship) is special.”
Quarterback Jared Andreychuk was equally solid offensively, passing for 154 yards with three touchdowns from the air.
“I’m disappointed to see 31 points up on that scoreboard,” Hilltops head coach Tom Sargeant said.
“We will need to coach better to make sure that doesn’t happen in the national championship.”
Rylan Kleiter was on the receiving end of two of those passing majors.

Backup quarterback Jordan Walls had some fireworks of his own, throwing to Colin Stumborg for the score on a field-goal fake.
“We’ve been 0-29 on fakes and I wanted to see if we could do it,” Sargeant said.
“It’s all about putting trust in the kids and they will make the plays.”
The win sends the Hilltops to their third consecutive Canadian Bowl. They will face the Westshore Rebels in Victoria B.C on Nov. 12.
“It’s just another game, it will be game 12 and we want to play better is all I ask,” Sargeant said.
